After last year's (2020) decision not to raise the minimum wage in all Modern Awards, the Fair Work Commission announced on 16 June 2021 that the National Minimum Wage will increase by 2.5%. The increase applies to anyone paid minimum Award wages or the National Minimum wage.
For anyone not covered by a Modern Award or an Agreement, the new National Minimum Wage will be $772.60 per week or $20.33 per hour.
So what do you need to do?
An Award covers most Employees. If you’re unsure which award applies, use the FWO Find My Award tool.
If a registered agreement covers you, you should check whether this increase affects you.
You can read our online documentation to update your Awards if required in e-PayDay.
This increase will come into effect for employees covered by a Modern Award in 3 different stages: from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021, 1 September 2021, or 1 November 2021, depending on the Modern Award that applies.
You can learn more about the changes by visiting the Fair Work Ombudsman.
